Beginning Sewing: Pattern Secrets/How to Read a Pattern - BAYMEADOWS

Interested in learning to sew garments? Come Join Cheryl for this lecture/demo class on learning about using patterns to make garments. Do you know how to choose a pattern compatible with your body type or sewing skill level? Why are the same patterns often marked with two different numbers? Why do so many people have trouble with projects that don’t fit? Pattern envelopes are a wealth of information for the sewist before you even get to the tissue paper and instruction sheets inside! Patterns are continuing to evolve and even advanced sewists sometimes miss this information. We will briefly look at the types and sources of patterns available, explore how to pick a good beginner-friendly pattern, and discover what information the envelope reveals about a pattern. Then we will look at the tissue paper symbols and guide sheet inside the envelope. The world of sewing a custom garment with a pattern awaits you!
